Inaugural Post Primary Super 10’s a huge success

Gaelic Football was the winner last Tuesday 11th February at the inaugural Post Primary Super 10’s competition held in Bushy Park, home of Brickey Rangers. The competition for 4th & 5th year players is the brain child of James Mansfield building on the success of the club Super 10’s held in 2024 and was run jointly by Déise Óg and James.
It was great to have 10 teams from 7 schools across the county participating in the A & B competition. Each of the teams played 3 group games prior to the knockout stages. The A competition featured 6 teams with DLS College, St Declan’s Kilmac, St Augustine’s & Dungarvan CBS qualifying for the semi finals. After two well contested game Dungarvan CBS beat St Augustine’s by 3 points and DLS College beat St Declan’s by a single point. In the Final Dungarvan CBS kept their winning run to beat a gallant DLS College and be crowned champions. Having won all 5 of their games they certainly were worthy champions.

In the B competition Waterpark College qualified directly for the final after the group games. The semi final between St Declan’s B & Méanscoil San Nioclás was another close game with the Kilmac side prevailing by 3 points. A well contested final was in the balance throughout the game with Waterpark coming out on top by 4 points to be crowned champions. Again they were unbeaten on the day and were worthy champions having only conceded 1-9 over their four games.

All teams, managers and officials were kindly supplied with refreshments by James Mansfield. Thanks to Brickey Rangers clubs and groundsmen for having the venue in excellent condition. Referees for the day Brian Cuddihy & Timmy Organ kept the games flowing throughout the day while Eddie Dee captured all the action over the 22 games played across both competitions. Certainly a competition that will be run again in the coming years.
