Jim Power U14 Football Tournament Returns
After a Covid-19 enforced break in 2020 & 2021 it was great to have the return of the Jim Power Tournament for U14 Football Development Squads return on Saturday 11th June. The long wait was certainly worth with as the tournament came back bigger and better than previously. This years tournament takes place over 2 days Sat 11th June & Sat 23rd July.
Last Saturday saw 4 groups take place across Munster & Leinster. Groups took place in SETU Arena Carriganore, Dr Morris Park Thurles, Wexford GAA Centre Ferns & Carlow GAA Centre Fenagh. This year saw Carlow, Wicklow & Offaly taking part for the first tome along with Waterford, Tipperary, Limerick & Wexford. The standard of the games was very high across all 4 venues with some excellent games in all groups. It was great to have members of the Power Family in attendance in Carriganore for some of the games.
All of the teams will now be coming to various venues in Waterford on Saturday 23rd July for the Finals Day where we will have Cup, Shield, Plate and Bowl competitions. The tournament is being run by Bord na nÓg, Déise Óg with the support of the Power Family for which we are very grateful.
The draws for 23rd July and launch of the new trophies for the tournament will take place in early July and we are looking forward to a great day of Gaelic Football in Waterford in 23rd July
