Pat Hunt RIP
It was with great sadness and heavy hearts that everyone involved with CLG Phort Láirge learned of the sudden passing of our great friend and colleague, Pat Hunt, earlier today.
A gentleman to his fingertips, Pat was our County Childrens Officer with the last number of years, a role he carried out with great honour and distinction, whilst he made a hugely valuable contribution to our fundraising activities in recent years, especially the very successful Strictly Come Dancing event in Carriganore.
Pat was the current Chairman of his beloved Clonea Power GAA Club where he took great pride in the impressive development work the club has carried in the past number of years and in their recent return to the Senior Hurling ranks. Coming from a family steeped in the GAA it was no surprise that so much of Pat’s life should have been devoted to the GAA. His brothers Tom and John continue to uphold this proud family tradition, Tom in his adopted Westmeath and John is still involved in helping our new referees here in Waterford. Of course the performances of his son Paudie in the Clonea, Rathgormack and Waterford jerseys gave Pat and his wife Alice the greatest pride of all and Pat was very much looking forward to this Sunday’s Senior Football County Final. He will be sorely missed by all in Waterford GAA and the wider Clonea/Rathgormack community.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Alice, Paudie, Marie and all the Hunt family at this very sad time.
Leaba i measc na naomh dá raibh aige.
